One of the many hard things about Depression is the cycle. You can have a good period and then something can happen that you know will re-trigger it, but sometimes, there's a delay. You've been in a good place, after all, so you're body starts fighting against it. Bargaining.

But all you really need to do is just open the door and let it in... It sucks. It feels like drinking poison. But it's the only way forward. The way out is through. And like all hard things, you can get better at dealing with them. <3 yo buttz.

This is why I have a strong inkling that depression was the main force that drove Bourdain to do what he did. Yes, he drank way too much, but the way he threw himself into it along with the work tells me depression was still underneath. He just went too far to cover it.

Keep in mind you were never seeing him when he was alone... 200 days on the road... that's a lot of alone.
