Note that I specifically said that I didn’t want to assume ignorance. That’s my issue. We can squabble about theme and execution endlessly and never get anywhere. I think the answer is closer to how people can perceive the same thing entirely differently.

... even if they’re looking for the same things. I want good execution just as much as you want interesting themes. Some came away perfectly satisfied, others less so. What will be really interesting to see is if episode 9 resolves this. After all, this is the middle of a story.

Don’t know what “mole theory” means, and I would give more credit to the “objective” logic of the story, but I suppose that’s fair enough. I’m sure you’re aware that ESB has its own backlash, owed to the characters failures that seem completely avoidable to the viewers.

I think we differ in that you think that things would have gone differently (or better) if Holdo has been forthcoming with the plan. I don’t really see it that way. Plus, Poe made his own disastrous secret plan out of spite, not knowing that one was in place.

Holdo isn’t flawless, but I don’t think she’s to blame. Regardless, I respect your interpretation and I enjoyed the discussion. Cheers.

Yeah, because god forbid a woman ever be morally superior to a man. This proves my whole goddam point and I'm sick of it. The stealth sexism everyone tells me is "objective" wrankles me so fucking hard.

There is literally nothing flawed with what she did. Nothing. You only think so because of a male-centric egoism that puts you into the lone desperado "i know what's best" mantra. When the entire point of his arc is undo the cowboy bullshit.

But Holdo's plan succeeded, or would have if Poe hadn't interfered? According to the rules established by the movie, escaping via the pods would have worked if the FO didn't know about it beforehand. Meaning secrecy was essential to the plan.
