Also, I realize I'm being harsh on this. But I am doing so for a reason because I think it's everything problematic about the adult way we think of this franchise in indulgent terms.

Hey man, everyone loves
#StarWars for their own reasons! It's by no means the best scene ever, but it made a bad-ass character even more bad-ass! I'm a Prequels lover as well, so I live for anything where a lightsaber is involved!1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Look, I understand it's only a movie, etc. etc. But what I'm saying is I think those reasons are genuinely crappy and finding Vader to be "badass" is a huge problem. It's like watching Walter White and being like "man he's so badass!" it's indulgent. And shitty. And immoral.

And I'll put it this way, I'm not casting this so much on you and your reaction, i cast it upon the movie for catering to that.

Sorry, the comment was directed at our other friend here in the convo, cheers. And btw friend, I'm not trying to make a comment on your character. I'm trying to get you to really, truly see a genuine problem with a thing you don't seem to think is a problem.

I'm not sure if I see a problem with that. Films give us the opportunity to see 'bad' characters in that way,
#RogueOne allows us to enjoy witnessing Vader's power in a new way - I don't see that as being immoral, especially consider that Vader/Anakin is the franchise's frontman1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Besides, Vader is only half the story in that scene. The other half is the dedication and bravery of the Rebels as they fight pretty much to the last man to make sure the plans are delivered! The contrast between they two elements is fantastic!

It is by it's very definition immoral. You're trying to have it both ways. I ain't having it. Period. This is a real issue.

I read rogue one as basically “the lower decks” or “the Zeppo” of Star Wars. I think what that scene did well was restore Vader’s scariness after the prequels and show the sacrifices of the foot soldiers that Star Wars tends to kind of gloss over.
