This may sound obvious, but I think cinema would benefit greatly if more directors started shooting for the edit instead of shooting for the shot.

To be clear, I don't mean "figure it out in the edit," I mean all that good good pre-planned mise en scene and having purposeful transitions and not getting lost in "this looks cool, this would also look cool."

They're pros, whatever choice they'll make will look pretty darn good. I care more about "right" or "effective" if that make sense.
