Isn't there a relationship between making audiences happy and box office?

Not really. There are plenty of happy movies that don't stick with people even an hour later. And there are so many other emotions that do. Sad movies are sad. Scary movies are scary, etc. They way they measure what matters is borderline insipid.

There should be a box to check that says "Will this haunt you?"

I remember when Wolf Of Wall Street opened to less than $20mil and a C CinemaScore. With a $100mil budget, that wasn’t good. But even with that C, word of mouth over the holidays helped it make bank.

Maybe people should just ignore Cinemascore and Rotten Tomatoes. They’re just the worst kind of internet friendly ‘scoring’ systems for things that are too complex to be given a number

It's not the specific questions, but it all along those lines of 'did you enjoy this movie.'
