If its a tragedy then they shouldn't do it.

You’re missing the point. And honestly, is great you’ve never felt so lost and beaten and depressed that you saw no future. But others have and maybe instead of belittling them, you should try to look from their point of view. It may help you connect to your fellow person

I have, I've tried. I got over it.

Maybe look to your feelings at that time and try to have some understanding as to why someone would feel that way then

If you go through with it, you cause much more pain to those you love then you are feeling in the moment. It is selfish. That's how I stopped myself.

And it’s wonderful you did. But some people aren’t able to. Some people just see no other option. And some people view themselves as burdens to those around them. We don’t know why they go through with it. But they do. And they can be mourned

I would kill myself on general principal if I saw myself as a 100% burden. I can see what your talking about but I don't think these people are able to control themselves in the moment.

If they can’t control themselves then it’s not really selfish action, is it? And I don’t think anyone is 100% burden. We all give to the world something, even if we take more than we share. And I wish everyone who committed suicide found the strength not to, even if it’s guilt

Well then we get into shit like "Was it fate? Are people who commit suicide weaker? Are they 'lower quality'" I think very robotically, I think things in net negatives and net positive. Suicide is a net negative almost all of the time. I love people, and thats why I hate suicide.

And yet, out of your fear, you ignore all objective psychological evidence and do the one thing that makes it tougher for them, for me, and instead don't do the one thing that helps and alleviates, which is listen to them and validate them.

I am here. I am telling you. if you really hate suicide, please listen to me. Listen to everyone. Don't go from this purely reactive place. Be there, don't add to the pain.

I'm gonna be honest and say I'll try. I think what I actually hate is culture that glorifies death and suicide, its soured me to the point where suicide as a whole makes me angry.

Believe me, I have literally zero interest in glorifying it, too (I'll leave that to 4chan boards). Only understanding and not putting pressure on the pain itself. Thanks for keeping your heart open to this. Be well.
