One of the things I forgot to touch on was the insidious notion of attempts being "a cry for help" and somehow unserious. Oh, lordy, they are most definitely serious and you most definitely would like to die. But the things that stop you can manifold, absurd, and downright silly.

I'm still thinking about all this a lot. It's a weird thing to get to meet your heroes, and for them to be generous with their time. And that's the thing that sticks out, I wouldn't call it kindness, but this kind of generosity to those moments. It all felt so generous.

I relate to this. I didn’t know him personally, but Chester Bennington’s suicide had a huge impact on me, and in a way was a catalyst for me to pursue my own recovery with more urgency. I think it was within a couple weeks of that I got on new medication and counseling
