I say that about acting. It bothers me to no end when an actor/actress makes almost no expression throughout a movie and the editing, directing and writing does ALL the work. I'm not counting Buster Keaton, of course.pic.twitter.com/DA0pJP0jGf

True that. But the great mob has on many occassions favoured vagueness over complexity. Election campaigns of the recent past spring to mind, as does the complexity of much of the British comics "invasion" being pumelled sales wise by Chris Claremont X-Vaguery
