@FilmCritHULK — loved the 2 film-making elements article on Observer. Ideally, would’ve been great had Marvel used end credit scenes, over several years, to suffuse audience with Thanos’ affection for Gamora. Impact earned. #film #movies http://bit.ly/2kaiajh

thank you! but I'd argue the problem is that people barely remember those scenes, and it would come with maximum impact if it happened within the actual movie, aka the real story they are telling in the now.

Point taken — time is always the problem, right? 2.5 hr running time already with SO many characters and arcs. Immense story challenge.

2.5 hours and they barely do anything with all of them. I'm gonna be honest. I hate this particular brand of laziness more than any other. There's no more characters than are in fury road and they have to INTRODUCE all those, too. You either make an effort or you don't.

Or I should say, you either know how to tell character centric stories within larger stories or you don't.

So where are you thinking that issue evolved from: screenplay, editing, producers? All? Seems as though there are so many points at which a film (as opposed to say, a comic book) can go pear-shaped. You thinking it started at the screenplay?

All, but the problem with direction is you get all of the credit and all of the responsibility. You have to know what's necessary.
