For the first time ever, I didnt see a Star Wars film opening night. Thanks for the cyncism, Disney!

People keep thinking this tweet is about Star Wars fatigue or The Last Jedi (which I loved). No, this is about the Lord & Miller firing, and perhaps more importantly, the obvious hatchet job that followed.

My thought is a Solo origin story is only an interesting premise in the hands of people like Lord and Miller. Not that Howard isn’t capable - the drastic direction change signaled that Disney didn’t want this to be interesting.

I agree Disney wants it to be bland, but gut feeling is that it’s very possible their style of shooting didn’t work for the actors. Oh, and Lawrence Kasdan was supposedly furious with what they were doing with his script.

1. It wasn't. 2. They were shooting his script. They were also trying other things.

Not according to Emilia Clarke. I think she might know a thing or two about how the actors felt. Certainly more than you possibly could. (Unless this account is yet another alias for Donald Glover - if so, loved This Is America.)https://metro.co.uk/2018/05/16/emilia-clarke-admits-early-mood-solo-star-wars-story-set-one-confusion-7549554/ …

That headline is not what her quote said, like, at all.

I know. That's why I tweeted a link to the article and didn't just quote the headline. It's the article I'm referring to not the headline (which are usually misleading).pic.twitter.com/eNCxJkfvPz

I know but it sounds like she's just describing the difference tween an improv set and a non-improv set where a genuinely sweet guy acts like everyone's dad. I don't mean that to be belittling to him, it's just I don't get how this is instant criticism of L&M's famous process.

I was thinking more of the quotes where Clarke says things like Howard “saved” the movie. Plus this by the writer. 'Frustrated by the lack of direction, she turned to Solo’s father-and-son screenwriters, Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, for support.' Damning.

There's so many things I want to try to explain here, but it basically comes up to "not as damning as you might think."

Well, maybe it would help if you did explain here. Because, at the moment, its sounds like you're ignoring the personal account of someone who was there for your own uninformed personal opinion. Not the most persuasive of arguments.

I have no way of getting into other than, believe me, I am very very very informed on this particularly issue but I can't get into it. However, in terms of the larger argument: I just made thishttps://twitter.com/FilmCritHULK/status/1000515528631320576 …
