Hey grocery store workers! I worked retail for many years but never in a grocery store—other than the obvious, I'm wondering what we consumers can do to make your jobs easier and your lives slightly better. What are some things we wouldn't think of? Easy adjustments we can make?

Basic respect is the main thing I’ve noticed lacking, and common sense. Stop bringing your kids to the bakery to get a free cookie, stop pushing your carts into people stocking the shelves, if you go to a higher end grocery store because Wal-Mart doesn’t have what you need -

Please don’t complain about how the prices are different or how the fresh bread that gets baked everyday is “bad bread because it doesn’t last a month like name brand bread”, and if something isn’t on the shelf it is not in the back, especially stuff like toilet paper

I cannot tell you how many people have grabbed employees to ask “go check in the back for me please” it’s not there, I promise. The problems are mostly from people who are hoarding or have no respect for others, but man just a simple thank you from someone is nice to see

Oh and lastly everyone, recognize that even if we go under a major national quarantine, we still do not get to go home. We are risking our health because we have to, so complaining about how hard quarantine is for you is extremely rude to say when we still have to be at work
