Teaching children not to be fat, to blame themselves and their parents for being fat, places personal culpability on what is a strong mixture of biology and systemic circumstance. By making it a moral failing, people blatantly ignore the systemic elements. It is shite.

Sometimes because people can “see” it physically means they think it’s more of a problem than the “invisible” things we don’t often see up close

TW: Eating Disorder numbers As an obese person who was once anorexic I've lived the life of someone who has experienced malnutrition and also obesity - I was more respected when I was 95 lbs and had zero strength and was passing out than I am at 260 lbs and relatively healthy.

It's sad that my frail dying body was seen as something to strive for and now I'm seen as lazy. Fatphobia is alive and well.

Don't I know it! I have SCI + brain tumor in pituitary gland, so I gain weight even though I barely eat enough to stay alive & look even heavier due to muscle atrophy. I've gotten lots of "advice" from idiots who feel they're "helping" me by pointing out my weight.

I have a hormone disorder that makes my body hold onto weight regardless of diet and exercise. Had a dude tell me that it was impossible for me to exercise and not lose weight because of "thermodynamics"
