  2. the layers can get more recursive if you want (Alizhan knows that Ev knows that Alizhan knows...) but mostly I just love this little moment of denial on Ev’s part. and of course she later comes to accept that Alizhan is right

  3. at many, many other moments in Ev’s POV, she reminds herself/you of Alizhan’s ability, but it conveniently slips her mind here

  4. and I love this moment because you, as reader, can accept Ev’s version if you want. But you can also think—as Ev does /not/—hey, wait a minute, Alizhan can /read minds/. Her list is not conjecture; she knows exactly who wants to kiss Ev.

  5. there is a moment late in NIGHTVINE where Alizhan asserts to Ev that lots of people (including a specific list of other characters!) want to kiss her, and Ev rejects the idea. She thinks “Alizhan was overestimating the number of people who wanted to kiss her” or something

  6. sometimes I resist tweeting annotations to my own books because I worry that it’s annoying or spoiler-y, but I love it when other writers do it, so here’s one

  9. okay now that I have vented on twitter, I think I can take a deep breath and write a response to these emails that is not "THIS IS SOME PATRONIZING BULLSHIT" or "DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST ASK ME TO DO MORE WORK"

  10. I will regret these tweets later if I don't say now that this week was one of the hardest weeks for everyone involved in this organization, for reasons outside our control, and not every week is this hard and sometimes I love this work but it is still work

Seconded! Felicia’s newsletter is my absolute fave every week. Etymology AND romance novels AND French lit, it’s basically everything I love and didn’t necessarily know could go together

  18. I always see people tweet as if History writes itself "History will remember" or there are no historians writing now "Future historians will" or that historians are a monolith and all white. How about we read more Black historians this BHM and do better? Here's a list

IF you offered me a book with a redemption arc that was about a billionaire coming to understand the harm they were doing and redistributing their own wealth as a means of repairing the world, I would consider it. But most billionaires in romance are a long way from that.
