I just love how he played with the light and shadows. Simple scenes look so amazing.

Someone wrote about the similarity between Hopper and Register, saying that in Hopper paintings you see a person's aloneness. In Register's you, the viewer, are the one who is alone.

I went to boarding school with John’s son, and on one wall of his dorm was a life size painting, no frame, of a house painter in full hazmat scrubs on the roof of their house. 😂
