I just finished Delillo's 'Underworld' for the second time. The first ten years ago. I am in awe in a way I couldn't be the first time. My lack of enthusiasm back then was my fault alone. I don't think you become a better person with age, but certainly a less self-centered reader

I loved the novel so much back then that I taught my first ever seminar on it. The characters have stayed with me. Haven’t reread it since but maybe I should.
