As you might know, Charles Darwin's grandfather, Erasmus Darwin, did not only foreshadow his grandson's theory of evolution in his book 'Zoönomia' (1796), but was also a good poet—à la Lucretius, I would say. In 'The Botanic Garden' (1791) he even predicted the Big Bang theory
