Are they supposed to be real places? I feel like I've been in some of them (though TBF, there are so many similar places across Europe)

The temple with the four giant statues is the Great Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel and is still around but not in it's original location. They moved it when a dam was built

The horse mill in the 2nd pic wouldn't work - the horse would fall into the river each time. Obviously he placed it more to the center to make it fit.
