Just learned that one of my favourite art historians, Jurgis Baltrušaitis (1903–1988), and his wife, Hélène Baltrusaitis, were family friends of Paul and Julia Child... 'Le Moyen Âge fantastique' (1955) meets 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' (1961)
I know only of these two in English translation: 'Aberrations: an essay on the legend of forms' (MIT Press, 1989) and 'Anamorphic art' (Harry N. Abrams, 1977).

Thanks! It's a bit sad that very little of his writings are available to read in any other language. Even here, in his sort-of-native Lithuania, only few pieces were translated from french.
