You mean that these paintings of the East are by someone from the West? Sure. But let’s not beautify Orientalism.

Nobody is beautifying Orientalism, on the contrary: stating that these watercolours are Orientalist—that is ideological depictions of the "East"—is a (post-colonial) critical warning for the viewer. Knowing all this, you can still appreciate their irreducible aesthetic values
