As a child, I loved the ‘Barone rampante’ and in general the whole trilogy to which it belonged (‘I nostri antenati’), but as of today, ‘Le città invisibili’ is not only my favourite book by Calvino, it is one of my favourites books tout court

I’ve been working my slowly but surely through Calvino (in English, my spoken Italian >> ability to read Italian). I think the last one was “If on a winter’s night a traveler..” which was one of a kind. Just bought Invisible Cities, I’ll let you know what I think.

I completely second this. I've just borrowed the trilogy from the library to reread. But Invisible Cities is one of my favourites of all books.
