Your post is awesome, I just read 'A Guide for the Perplexed' (interviews with director and icon Werner Herzog, and he mentions this painter as being far ahead of his time and mostly unknown. Now I finally see why!

Thank you! Yes, he is definitely far ahead of his time, but we should not forget our own perspective, since we give his landscapes meanings (charms, fears and neurosis) that are entirely ours
