        the second illustration is a collage (made from a bunch of extracts from his manga) made for it's 2012 exhibition "Genga" https://soranews24.com/2012/01/31/otomo-exhibition-features-original-drawings-from-akira-domu-and-more/ … so I wouldn't call it a reference to Escher.
