They claim they don't have a lot of reports filed. Which might be legit. A lot of people use NextDoor to report this stuff, which, in case anyone isn't aware, is definitely not the same as filing a police report.

A lot of people complaining we don't have enough police. Hope they voted in the last election because that's not the direction SF is going based on the last election.

Police said again that foot beats are assigned based on statistics. This falls into "squeaky wheel gets the grease". If you take anything away from this thread...it's file real reports. Call the police. Make your voice heard in official channels, not just twitter and Nextdoor

Woah this is new info for me. Mandelman said that a budget for the next 2 years is about to be approved, and it will REDUCE the police force by 150 officers

Mandelman said: "If you are concerned about safety and want to see more beat police officers, you did not have your voices heard in the last budget process" - while I cringe at the blame, he's right. We need to be more active in this going forward.

Mandelman said he voted against the reduction in force, but sounds like his constituents could have helped by making our voices heard at the budget meeting because he was a lone voice. This is useful. I want more of this so that we can mobilize.

"Public Safety" Chat for D8 is over. Pretty disheartening. It's clear that most of the ~200 folks that joined the call felt like we got no clear answers or any actionable information. Feels like mostly we are being blamed for not properly reinforcing our houses.

D6 here-this is exactly what we get in our meetings too. You are not alone. The number of break-ins, theft and vandalism we see is ridiculous! Thank you for covering this. Glad it’s not just our neighborhood trying to fight back. Total failure @chesaboudin @sfbos @SFDAOffice

Definitely not alone! Parts of D8 date back before COVID and 2 Supervisors. Media was not interested either.
