First the Rex & Pyra fiasco now this? Logan, I respect you, but seriously, Chrom and Lucina are Echo Fighters and Roy is a semi-clone with about as much differences from Marth as Falco from Fox or Toon Link from Link.

That's still 4 outlines of the same template. Semi-clone is still a variant. ...and echoing the semi-clone is still riding on the original design. Be defensive if you wish, but the point still stands. Marth is more tired than any other character that's spawned a variant.

I guess it's a bit dumb maybe, but all those characters are different enough to justify their place imo. Even in theory though, I'd think the problem would be with redundancy in general. Like adding a bunch of Marios and Links to outnumber Marth wouldn't be much better.

Read the label as you wish, and "variant" doesn't have to be taken derogatively...but one design spawned 3 more. That's a little absurd for a character that isn't the biggest face.

So you’re not gonna complain about the fact we have 3 links who have even LESS differences between themselves then the Marth clones?!?!

Link at least runs with a theme from the series, in that he has many incarnations. Not to mention the physical differences. Young link is a different age, and Toon Link is a completely different art style. Besides, Link's one of the biggest faces. It makes more sense.

Casual reminder that Marth, Chrom, Roy, and Lucina are 4 actually different characters where variants of Mario would just be Mario and Link is a blank slate for players to project themselves onto.

but yknow, who cares complaining about fire emblem characters gets retweets :^)

Defensive much? I'm referring to Smash Bros. They are most definitely not unique in there.
