Keeping repeat felony offenders is not part of the police state argument. More just common sense argument.

Common sense is to follow the data and science.https://twitter.com/HamasakiLaw/status/1437424892803047426 …

John Hamasaki @HamasakiLawThis is the disturbing part. We spent the last year being inundated with Willie Horton-style media coverage of crime. When the data comes out showing that it was just a marketing campaign for more police spending, the media disappears. Weird how that works. https://twitter.com/equalityAlec/status/1437420995426627586 …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Paul, do you think the repeat felon that stabbed the 92 yo woman on film should serve time for this hideous crime? I'm trying to follow this argument and need your help. Repeat offenders are causing the "uptick" in crime, no?

I think that we incarcerate Far too many people, especially during a pandemic. We cannot and shouldn't continue to
#MassIncarcerate people in such a dangerous and historic number.https://sfdistrictattorney.org/policy/justice-driven-data/an-epidemic-inside-a-pandemic/ …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

ahh I see. Yeah I think the way the DA measured crime is this study is flawed. Do you think the publisher of this study could be biased? More people in SF feel unsafe and throwing this report in their face won't make them "feel" safer..

Yes actually the fact that we are not in a massive crime wave, and the knowledge that fear mongering has created this state of hysteria might actually make them calm down and behave more rationally. Reducing

Interesting points. Well done & well argued Paul. My one pushback and I think you & I agree on is: People that are clearly violent and continue to get into random felonies should get more time in jail. Think back to the 92 yo that got stabbed by a repeat offder;thiscouldbeprevn

Yep! "We must act with urgency to ensure that detention is used only when the risk of great bodily harm to another person outweighs the community public health consequences. Public health and public safety depend on it."
@chesaboudin from the above epidemic inside pandemic piece.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
The reason the recall effort is happening is rooted in the idea that he is NOT locking up repeat offenders. Could we look into cases where @chesaboudin does this? i.e.,. cindy swanson stabs someone, then robs a CVS, then pulls ghost gun on someone in matter of months?

I guess I disagree as to why the recall is happening. It is about financial self interest, some billionaires are intent they should be the only ones who matter, and want to buy immunity from our laws. From the beginning recallers have told us why, listen? https://twitter.com/ChatfieldKate/status/1377274299778666499 …
