CMC makes these errors all the time. Their top 100 list isn't accurate most of the time for this exact reason. Use @coingecko . They are more accurate consistently.
True. None of the other big sites have the circulating supply though, not even CoinGecko or Messari. It's the only place I could find it and I presume many retail traders are erroneously using it as a reference point

And the other piece to this puzzle is who owns CMC. CMC, supposedly a gateway to new and existing investors but really just misleading investors.
