Things like study, opponents' history, mental state, etc. can affect your poker play regardless of luck, similar to the markets. Although, Hellspawn is right in that poker is a more level playing field - everyone gets two cards. In the crypto markets, information is asymmetrical.

Back when internet poker was new a lot of kids around me in Sweden were staying up all night to play against "drunk americans". Quite a few made bank by just playing the numbers in multiple tables at once

They used the term "fish" for people like those "drunk Americans". Gradually the fish dried up and the game theory got more advanced.
