Anchor's core researchers calculated the original safe rate to be 3.6% - a low, stable yield better than banks. A week before launch, they found out Do had locked in a 20% rate. They warned him that this would collapse - but he threatened to fire them all. https://news.jtbc.joins.com/html/673/NB12061673.html …pic.twitter.com/xaLNlQg7Ol

I agree on other stuff you have mentioned so far regarding TFL, but for this one specific point - it's not a scam to be offering unsustainable interest rates. That's the company investing at a loss in order to bring in more users, several famous tech companies started like this.

I'm not saying it was a scam - in fact, 20% was sustainable for a little while - I'm simply narrating the incidents that took place. No value judgements in the tweet

What is the scam is the repeated, copy pasted go-to answer that was given to us on the anchor's TG group, for the question "for how long is that rate sustainable". That answer was from a mod (hero something), and talked about "5-7 years".

A bit of me thinks if they dropped the 20% months ago and made concerted efforts to collatorise they may have just pulled it off .. like lead weight balenced on a steel shaft oppose to a lead weight on a sugar cane; which is more like what it acted like in the end.

Yield was coming from the Yield Reserve, so 20% was definitely sustainable if you look at the way it was evolving (dynamic APR, multichain&more)
