Today I built a special hat 🤠 It has a motor + propeller on it that spins faster the harder I focus! The motor's power is connected to my Raspberry Pi which is running a Node server I wrote that's actively capturing my brainwaves over WiFi via a . Check it out

I’m off to Japan for ~2-weeks. Been shipping like crazy and pulling 70-100 hour weeks for a while now. It’s time to step back, see new things, get inspired, rest a lil, and come up with crazy new ideas for what we do next. See you in N&W S3 🇯🇵

More news on how you can get merch in March. Right now it's all in experiment mode. We're trying different providers, different designs, different brands. If you want something legit, it isn't as simple as slapping a logo on a custom t-shirt site. And, I want something legit.

I wanna build a sick fashion brand. One that tinkerers in Pakistan to founders in SF to artists in Japan would be proud to represent -- one that appeals to builders worldwide. It'll be aesthetic af. And, it'll be high quality.

Finally got merch. Was always super against it because felt like we didn't deserve it -- but, proud af of what we've built over these last two years. Here's my first time wearing our hoodie! P.S: a lil message on the wrist

We've gathered 250 hustlers. Each of them spent the last 6-weeks going from zero to -- building out their idea + getting real users. Some went from 0 to $1000 in MRR. Others now got 150,000 users. If you wanna see what people are building -- see you Saturday.

This is Ke Huy Quan -- from Everything Everywhere All at Once. At 13, he played a role in Indiana Jones. After that, he had no big roles for nearly ~40 years. Dude didn't give up, kept hustling. Here he is in 2023 at 51 winning a Golden Globe for his performance in EEAAO.

If you're pretty shy and wanna get better at speaking/stoytelling -- highly recommend making 1-2 YT videos a week. You'll be surprised how good you get within a year if you keep at. Just gotta put in the reps -- consider it a personal investment, like going to the gym.

Ended up making over ~600 videos. It paid off. As I made these -- my stutter slowly went away and I gained a ton of confidence + got pretty good at storytelling. Even developed a small audience!

For most of my life, I had a bad stutter. Imagine not being able to complete more than 4-5 sentences in a row without stopping. Had zero confidence talking to people, so I started talking to a camera. Made 1-2 YT videos a week -- vlogs and skits. A clip from when I was 13:

I remember before my YC interview -- I practiced answering questions for 2-days straight with my Mom and Dad. I'm telling you. Aint nothing quite like having your Pakistani mother + father obliterate your startup lol. Things get clear and simple real quick.

But, what's wild is the more difficult this journey gets -- the more I learn about myself + the thing I'm creating. And that keeps me excited af. Building is an infinite game. There are no rules, there are no boundaries, there is no end. Be an infinite player.

There are moments when I'll feel like: "Fk all of this, whats the point..." Especially now -- when more people than ever expect greatness from me + the team. Building new shit all day everyday gets fkin difficult. It takes all your energy.

For example: It's insane how so much of our company's aesthetic/brand is based on anime. We know we're not making anime -- but we understand why we like anime: the art style, the music, the world building, etc. And we can apply those lessons to what we're building!

The better you get at understanding the things that appeal to you... The better you'll get at understanding how to create things that appeal to others.

The best thing you can do when building a brand: Study the things that you love. Huge examples like Apple, Nike, etc can take months to unpack. Instead, focus on yourself -- that show's cinematography you liked, that artist's album art on Spotify that hooked you, etc.

Yo , your optimal strategies have been recognized. Cool to see you going above and beyond to attend the live sessions for Nights & Weekends. Drop me an email. I'll sponsor your trip to SF for N&W IRL !

Our last live event w/ had ~200 people. One participant caught our eye. As you can see, yes, he's in his highschool classroom lol. Look at how he uses his hair to cover his Airpods -- how he's even got his pencil out so it looks like he's taking notes. Impeccable 😂

Damn. From idea to $150 in revenue within a few days. And, you can do it too. If you want a little bit of inspiration this morning -- just take 40-seconds to watch this vid 🥲.

Random, but I think this way because Riot Games rejected me for 6-years in a row from their internship lol. I was so sad at year 6 lol.

This is how I raised my first $25,000. And, how I raised the $2.2M seed. And, how I raised the $10M. I always tell myself that if I have to convince someone else to check out/invest in what I'm building, then it isn't good enough yet. It should just be obvious.

The hack to raising a seed round: 1. Say you're gonna do something. 2. Do it + tell everyone. 3. Repeat. No need to waste time w/ shit like storytelling, pitching, cold emailing, etc. Once your growing consistently for 3-6 in a row, investors will come to you + ask for info 🧵
