@jeansnow I thought about you when I was in the theater, about how jealous I’ve always been of you, being able to see end of End of Eva in theaters back in 1997, and how the day finally came that I could enjoy it on the big screen hahaShow this threadThanks. It was a double bill with End of Evangelion and Evangelion Death/Rebirth. Being able to see images and scenes forever burned into my subconscious for nearly 25 years, all up on on the big screen, was an emotional experience.pic.twitter.com/sZphrZVsDS

Three days later, and I still can’t believe I got to see End of Evangelion in the theater. I’ve got an incredible sense of closure for the entire franchise now. At this point, Evangelion 1.0+3.0 could consist of two hours of Asuka and Rei in an elevator and I’d still be happy.

Incredibly insightful interview/commentary on creation of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Movie conducted by Jonah Ray with Kevin Murphy and Trace Beaulieu (aka: Servo and Crow). If you’re a fan of the movie, this is an absolutely essential listen:https://linktr.ee/watchwithjonah

Whoa, a Google Earth search of the neighborhood surrounding Studio Ghibli shows what is clearly Hayao Miyazaki walking to work.https://twitter.com/diesuke_w/status/1347582361664278529 …

I know 3.0 + 1.0 is the *final* Eva film; but in a way this gave me more closure. I’ve seen everything from screen rips, bootlegs and fansubs of this movie over the past 24 years, and it felt surreal to finally experience it on the big screen in all its utterly bizarre glory.

One thing about seeing End of Eva in the theater is that since the credits are in the middle of the film, the lights go up mere seconds after Asuka’s final line. It packs a huge emotional punch that I’d never felt before in all my viewings.

Being able to witness End of Evangelion, especially the second half of the film on the big screen, and just let it wash over me, was absolutely incredible. This may be the last time I ever get to do this, and was so happy I felt like I could cry.

Everyone in the theater (all ten of us) had their temperature screened, and I’m seated several rows away from the nearest person. I honestly don’t have this kind of luxury when I’m going to the grocery store.

With Evangelion seemingly coming to an end this month, there’s something I’ve always wanted to do for 24 years but sadly never had the chance: see End of Evangelion in the theater. Even after nearly 20 years in Japan, and I’ve never been able to do so, until today.pic.twitter.com/AY47xy7hxa

Kamakura in winter has a serene, otherworldly stillness. While many people enjoy visiting in the summer months, I vastly prefer the quiet and calm of winter. There is something tremendously beautiful about the withered scenery, and its complete silence.pic.twitter.com/MOCh38CWCN

After what happened today, let’s just say that I needed to be alone for a while, and a deserted Kamakura in the middle of winter seemed like the perfect place.pic.twitter.com/ySocfhUP7d

I try to keep this account positive, and only discuss the thing that bring me (and hopefully you as well) happiness, but just to be perfectly crystal clear: Fuck Trump

It’s also worth noting that amongst all of this officially licensed merchandise, is a piece of *unofficial* merch....the Earthbound Handbook. Really goes to show just how much love and care went into that book, so much so that now it resides next to official Mother 2 items.pic.twitter.com/0qyNVpmwm9

Probably my favorite item on display was a card containing hand written messages from Itoi, Iwata and Miyamoto commentating the launch of Mother 1+2 for Game Boy Advance.pic.twitter.com/HlnYfezzqY

A variety of dialogue sheets used in the development of Mother 2 were on display, all containing dialogue from the game hand written by Itoi.pic.twitter.com/TsjZilQ3tj

Was floored to discover that the exhibit featured a shelf containing seemingly the majority of all Mother merch ever released. Even more shocking was the wide variety of American promotional materials (including the pizza scented air freshener), all in mint condition of course.pic.twitter.com/81XVqugsfs

Was at a loss for words at the Mother exhibit. While the exhibit was primarily focused on famous lines of dialogue from the franchise, the amount of rare items on display was utterly stunning.pic.twitter.com/ZDDA6qO52q

A kid who can’t be more than 12 is standing in front of me, distanced, with his mom at the supermarket. He’s watching an Evangelion explanation video on YouTube, and visibly excited to discover “KAWORU” is printed on the dummy plugs of the Eva series in End of Eva. I’m smiling.pic.twitter.com/uTBt0CI4d3
