Excited to share my first decision-making paper! We used a sensory preconditioning task to study model-based behavior in human OFC. We found that 1)OFC acquires value-neutral as well as value-related info; 2)model-based inference in OFC is supported by its interactions with HPC.

The hippocampus “holds in mind” future possibilities on alternating cycles of the theta rhythm— a potential mechanism of deliberation. Honored to have been a small part of this work, and stoked for the world to see Kenny’s elegant findings!

Memories are organized by their spatial study context. These contextual features are being reinstated with distinct time courses in hippocampus and surrounding MTL, while theta power increase is common to these regions!

Human hippocampal CA3 damage disrupts both recent and remote episodic memories – our new paper in tl;dr: amnesia extended up to 50 years prior to damage (flat gradient); linked with disrupted integration in the MTL subsystem of default network

How do we infer outcomes when direct experience is lacking? use fMRI and a sensory preconditioning task to examine how the orbitofrontal cortex & hippocampus contribute to model-based inference

Finally published! We ( & collaborators and Geoff Schoenbaum) show that disrupting human OFC networks with TMS impairs inference-based decisions in the devaluation task. Check it out!

What are the important components of episodic memory? & Andy Yonelinas propose that the precision of spatiotemporal binding helps clarify how we represent context and the role of the hippocampus in memory and other cognitive functions.

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to reduce your levels in 2020, here are 10 evidence-based strategies to try. There are other great ones, but these can be accessed at no cost or low cost. They may not all be possible for everyone, but maybe one will help. (thread)
