The bulk of the restrictions apply to immigrant visas -- ppl from Nigeria, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan & Eritrea who would mostly be coming to unite w family in the U.S. can't do that anymore. As we've said before, these bans operate as
#familyseparation policies.https://thehill.com/opinion/immigration/480234-as-trump-plans-to-expand-his-muslim-ban-we-must-continue-to-fight-it …Prikaži ovu nit -
If you're from Sudan & Tanzania you can't enter the diversity visa lottery. Trump has long been a critic, saying that countries send their worst ppl ... it's a lottery, not chosen by countries, but whatever ...

Justifications given similar to
#MuslimBan. Countries don't issue electronic passport, report lost/stolen docs to Interpol, don't share info on suspected criminals & terrorists. But these are clearly selectively applied, as data show.https://www.cato.org/blog/travel-ban-based-executive-whim-not-objective-criteria …Prikaži ovu nit -
-> 86 countries don't issue e-passports (as of 2017) -> 150 or so, including China & India, rarely report lost/stolen passports to Interpol.

National security officials have publicly said that bans are counterproductive & harm national security cooperation. But, they do keep brown & black ppl from becoming Americans. And that seems to be the point.

Congress has the authority to set immigration policy, but Trump is changing it at will. There is no logical stopping point unless Congress passes the
#NoBanAct.Prikaži ovu nit
