It seems like you use a serial comma in place of the word 'and'. So, for example, instead of awkwardly writing "w and x and y and z", you can just write "w, x, y and z". Very useful. But...

If you put a comma after "y", then you're essentially writing "w and x and y and and z". The second 'and' between y and z is redundant, isn't it?

We could skip the 'and' convention and just use commas in lists: w, x, y, z. red, blue, green, orange.
