suffering is beyond the four extremes
-
Oh, I’m curious now... What are the four extremes?
-
existence non-existence both existence and non-existence neither existence nor non-existence
-
Aha. Hmm.. I guess I see that. The dukkha quality is another category entirely...
-
another category?
-
Well, as I understand it, dukkha is an inherent quality of life, part and parcel of what is like to be a human.. so, in that sense, it is beyond the scope of any specific phenomenon arising and/or disappearing out of consciousness.
-
dukkha is an arising. if it weren't, it wouldn't be capable of ceasing.
-
Ah, I see. It’s considered to be an impermanent phenomenon within consciousness. So, what does it mean that it’s beyond the four extremes?
