It's also been shown that priming contributes to "automaticity" in social and emotional cognition and behavior. That is, much of our the way we think and behave socially and emotionally is influenced by past thoughts, behaviors, and experiences -- often without our awareness.

It should be noted that some forms of priming are very well established scientifically, while others still suffer from inadequate replication. That said, I found the connection kind of interesting. Might write an article about it sometime.

interesting connection. karma as constant source of background priming?
-
Right. The actions you take, emotional states you inhabit, and conceptual schema you work with all greatly influence your future experiences.
-
Not in the sense of "you get what you deserve", just that your present state is *always* intimately conditioned by prior experiences, and everything you do in the present is being integrated into the web of influences that will condition your future experiences.
-
right, and your initial state when your awareness "boots up" is conditioned by things as well. priming from your parents, society, and history. there aren't really any moments in your life that are free from karmic priming.
-
Not to mention millions of years of evolutionary development!

Yeah probing makes sense. I’ve often also though if certain aspects of personality as karmic too.
