Thought experiment: Setting aside for the moment any concerns about your loved ones... do you fear the end of experience? Assuming everyone will be fine without you, is it OK with you if you go to sleep tonight and don't wake up? If not, why not? Genuinely curious.

Want to come to Mexico with me to score a couple of bottles of pentobarbital in case we have to take the bull by the horns?

Not kidding, by the way. I'm a huge advocate of the right to die, and I think we should all have a couple of bottles of Nembutal squirreled away so we can put ourselves down humanely when quality of life ebbs away.

I gotta say, it's incredibly refreshing to hear someone say this. Thank you. I understand the emotional and ethical aversion people have to suicide as a fundamental human right, but in my view it's the most fundamental right of all.

Have you read Sarah Perry's "Every Cradle is a Grave: Rethinking the Ethics of Birth and Suicide"? It's genius.
