Happiness happens to us when we stop running away from our angst and confusion, and instead invite them over for a cup of tea and get to know them.
If you manage to do that long enough, you start to notice some subtle things about the nature of your experience that inform your understanding of the mechanics of suffering, so that you're no longer convinced that happiness can come from grasping or avoiding things.
