This week's edition of the Mindful Resistance Newsletter is out: https://mindfulresistance.net/2018/03/24/issue-33/ … There you'll find, among many other things, facts about John Bolton that are available nowhere else! (Except Wikipedia.)pic.twitter.com/5FYhfwd12O

I think listening to a podcast you completely disagree with is unlikely to be successful. Better to listen to a podcast of someone who you disagree with, but can respect.

depends on what you mean by success. a big goal here is to just notice, and observe acutely, the feelings aroused by a disagreeable podcast. you can have success at that even if you aren't at all persuaded by the disagreeable argument.

OK, but I think studies show that this kind of thing causes people to become more radical in their views, rather than less. Not sure if the self knowledge is worth the cost.

Which studies show that listening to opposing viewpoints and paying attention to how it makes one feel causes radicalization?

Well I can't seem to find the studies that I thought existed so I guess I retract my comment.

I'm impressed. Usually people double down in this situation!
