"On the other hand, our true, non-conceptual self is already the Buddha, and needs no improvement.” -Mr. Alan Watts

Absolutely right, because*beliefs are conceptual.* Therefore, you have to *cut off thinking completely*, shatter the chain of thinking with a forceful Zen technique.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

By cutting off thinking with decisive energy in a state of full awareness, one attains the "mysterious realization"
-
I like letting it cut itself off. That way I don't have to do anything.
-
That's Buji Zen, and it's ridiculous. You will get nowhere with that. You will never experience Satori. I am sorry if that sounds a little harsh.
-
That was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I won't claim that I've experienced Satori, but the most progress I ever made happened in a single instant, and it wasn't by intentionally cutting through anything. It just happened.
-
I think there's a balance to be found between obsessive effort and pretending like there's nothing else to do.
-
Your effort should not be "obsessive," just strong and one pointed, otherwise there's no chance at all. See http://diamondsutrazen.blogspot.com/2017/02/kindred-spirits-and-demons-master.html …
