I'm well aware. You're sort of making the point I was making.

Indeed. I call it "re-iterating".

Yeah, but it doesn't real address THE point, which is that this is a standard founding myth that Buddhists pay inordinate attention to for some reason.

Well, what is suffering? If it's the second dart, you absolutely can get rid of it. Shows up on brain scans. If it's the first -- to some extent I think it's possible. I've been able to dismiss pain at times. Only small amounts, but I'm not very advanced or good.

yeah, consider a response to "not get rid of dukkha"

You can get rid of unpleasant experiences? Also, I'm skeptical as to whether dukkha shows up on brain scans.

distress does. Had some 50K monks undergo pain, along with normal people. distress showed up on both. But the normal people had distress after, and when told they had to do it again. The monks didn't.

I think I know which study you're talking about. Yes, it makes a huge difference to not suffer over things that have happened or are about to happen (or are perceived to be about to happen).

yeah, for most people most of suffering is anticipation or trauma/memories. It is for me, and I've had a life with a lot of real pain and nauseau and so on compared to most.

I suspect that people who have dealt with above average amounts of suffering in their lives are uniquely positioned to be successful yogis. There's more of a familiarity with the territory.

Yeah. It's kind of in the job description.
