Another characteristically nonsensical pronouncement from attacking my friend for his great work at You know you're doing something right when rightwing stenographers for special interests attack you this viciously

Free college = impractical! Any democratically accountable measures to address college affordability = impractical!

I guess I missed the part in the proposed regs where ED would investigate aggressive marketing practices. I did see the change that would dismiss evidence when states investigate and sue schools for aggressive practices though

Have them also watch "Fail State" afterwards. It is a great presentation of how we have allowed US higher ed to be corrupted

Jon Oberg exposed fraud in the student loan system & valiantly fought & won legal battles to hold lenders & bad ED officials accountable. $$$ went back to taxpayers, & Oberg has used his share to support student advocates. He deserves our thanks.

More breaking news -- is dropping the idea of restricting all borrowers at closed schools from accessing discharges if they were even offered a teach-out plan. "You will not see that in the next NPRM."

Proud to stand with so many others to say to and : ENOUGH! Stop weakening critical protections for students and taxpayers at the insistence of predatory colleges.

Right. These issues don't fit in neat buckets -- and ED knows that. It's proposing groupings that will almost guarantee no consensus, which means can do whatever it wants to do.

If you or someone you know is interested in attending a for-profit college, just don't. I've been directly working with students of these colleges for the past year and it disgusts me to see how these "institutions" target & scam vulnerable students using manipulative techniques.

Tomorrow begins yet another massive deregulatory effort, and an end-run around Congress, in the shadows of the shutdown. For Republicans who slammed "executive overreach" on consumer protection rules, this is just so rich.
