We see Pages on both the left and the right pumping out what they consider opinion or analysis – but others call fake news. We believe banning these Pages would be contrary to the basic principles of free speech.

Thanks for the feedback. No-one is defending the harassment of victim’s families online or offline – and we ban pages that repeatedly harass people per our standards.

The harder question is do you ban Pages (or people) that spread conspiracy theories or misinfo? We believe the better approach is to demote fake news posts, and the Pages that spread them. These guys are allowed YouTube and Twitter accounts too – we imagine for the same reason.

It’s not that hard a question in this case. This should be the easiest part of solving a hard problem.

If no one is defending it, why are you allowing it on your platform? InfoWars has repeatedly used your platform to harass Sandy Hook parents, spew bigoted statements (especially about the LGBTQ community) & spread demonstrably fake news. It’s YOUR platform. You can do something.

What they are saying, too, is that as long as a Page doesn't *directly* encourage harassment, it's perfectly fine if its members take the initiative to harass others using its content for inspiration. Facebook can definitely take action against such content but choose not to.

Facebook has blood on its hands. FB was complicit in the misinformation campaing that's lead to the murder of Rohingya and FB will shares culpability in the harassment of Sandy Hook parents.

Yes- I submitted research going back five years to Ben Collins who did a story on this and Maddow followed up. Rohingya activist, Urainians and any Putin critics were blocked on FB. "Facebook has an ugly history of making Kremlin-friendly moves." Indeed.

Really stop now @facebook. You made your choice to monetize the grief and harassment of parents who’s children were slaughtered. Live with it.

You can't figure out how to say "we make money on Alex Jones so we are going to continue to pretend we don't know what you're talking about" without, well, saying that.
