🙋🏻‍♀️hi. What, in your opinion, would be the responsible journalist thing to do? After I found small advertisers affected in a way they can’t anticipate, was I supposed to tell them that what was happening to them wasn’t relevant because we should expect some false positives?

Ooooh yeahhhhh that’s really not what journalists do…. That said, I would suggest telling the system to automatically approve all bean-related content.

Sometimes journalism isn’t about numbers or prescribing solutions. Sometimes it’s about people’s stories, and the flaws of a system they take part in. And maybe that journalism becomes useful to those who are building the systems, because they know a thing to look out for.

Belated but thanks for the thoughtful discussion. Calling out our mistakes helps us find gaps and improve. AI is important but we agree it’s not going to solve problems on its own. We’re working on a bunch of things.

We're making ads more transparent on Pages so anyone can find and report ads that shouldn't be on FB. And we'll have more people dedicated to this, including specialized teams to help identify and prevent issues https://www.buzzfeed.com/alexkantrowitz/facebook-hired-a-team-of-ex-intel-officers-researchers-and …

Getting it right takes both people and AI, but also some time.

Facebook, as a VERY long time user - I wish I could talk to you all directly about so many things you need to change, fix, or bring back! It frustrates me the way your customer service, privacy, reporting services etc have become. You need to truly listen to long time users!

I feel like I am dealing with a brick wall when I try to report things, or make suggestions about FB features etc. You say you care about privacy yet that damn new green dot now shows people if I am on FB or not. I don't need people knowing when I am online!
