    I really hope this trend continues: a refreshingly honest and in depth analysis of papers with duplicated data. Kudos to Prof. Laskowski for being so forthcoming

    I am not excited to say that there were similar problems in the raw data of another of my papers - this paper is now retracted too. I know there might be some interest in what's going on so here is the full account of how and why I came to this decision:

    Some data about FSU’s cancelling of our Elsevier contract (Ps, we did it before California ;)). We are a year into not having a contract with them.

    Elsevier told Florida State they would spend more than $1,000,000 on tokens / pay-per-view. So far after the cancellation, they’ve spent $20,000. Deans are saying the library made the right decision in cancelling. Gale Etschmaier at

    If you saw the viral thread (heh) making all sorts of ridiculous claims about the coronavirus, keep in mind that the new estimate of the reproduction rate (R0) is far outside the confidence interval of the previous estimate, suggesting the model was completely misspecified.

    The claim that "we are now faced with the most virulent virus epidemic the world has ever seen" and that the new coronavirus is 8x as infectious as SARS is completely untrue. Even if the R0 were 3.8 that would be nowhere near a record. Here is some context w/ a range of R0s:
