  1. Like the terrestrial part of our planet, wetlands are threatened by invasive species. If you suspect something or find an invasive, take a picture and report it on iMAPInvasives or to your RM.

  5. Eurasian Water Milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) resembles the native Water Milfoil and Coontail found in several waterbodies throughout Canada. Look to the leaves for the differences (# of leaflets, leaflets branched or not).

Here are the trends in Grp 1 & 2 resistant wild oat over the last 20 years and am extrapolation of where we might be in by 2021. . Grp 2 line only starts in 2009 since Grp 2 WO products were not ubiquitous until ~2000-2005.

  12. Dames rocket is a beautiful purple-flowering plant. It has fragrant 4-petal flowers. Despite its beauty, it will crowd out native vegetation and decrease riparian health.

Not too common in the southwest of the province but all too common in the north and east. Tends to be very problematic north of a rough boundary of Highway #15 and north.

  18. Winter annuals can be difficult to control & can be very competitive. The recommended time to control annual weeds is late fall – up until freeze-up, if controlling in the spring – its best to do it early when the weeds turn green & are actively growing.

  19. Weeds that germinate in the fall & winter live through winter & grow actively in the spring. The plants bloom & grow during the cool season when most other plants are dormant or other plants are waiting for warmer weather to germinate.
