I just don't get why this is a huge deal. I only use cursive for my signature nowadays, and most cursive letters are quickly decipherable even if you don't know cursive.

Because students hate learning cursive. However, I find myself and others have more legible handwriting with cursive as opposed to manuscript.

Here's a thought, instead of forcing kids to learn cursive that they probably will never use, why don't we teach them how to trade stocks and how the stock market works? Or how about let's teach them how to take out a loan and how mortgages work
