    BTW, I understand that scholars' letter to Senate will have exactly zero effect on outcome of this trial. It's really a letter to history, placing in the trial record the consensus among serious scholars and historians about what "high crimes and misdemeanors" means. That matters

    The most recent version of the scholar's letter to the Senate rebutting the constitutional theories of Pres Trump's counsel is linked in this piece. It now bears about 300 signatures, including many of the luminaries of American legal scholarship.

    Dershowitz stood in well of Senate & argued tht president is king who can do no wrong in service of remaining on his throne. At any previous pt in American history, he wld have been jeered off floor. Possibly ducked in Potomac. Republicans shook his hand. I despair for my country
