When people are being TURNED away from seeking asylum it automatically makes them some undocumented illegal?? They are human beings, trying to leave desperate situations. Who are we to not help them.

Then they need to seek asylum at the ports. If you are eligible for asylum you may be permitted to remain in the United States. To apply for Asylum, file a Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, within one year of your arrival to the United States.

No. Only adults who could not prove they were the parents were separated from the children. It was for the safety of the kids in case the adults are traffickers. Sheesh.
