I largely agree with this. But the new PM (once confirmed) will have to deal with both violence against the protesters (past and presence) and the issue of the US/Coalition military presence. These issues are immediate and can’t be punted.

That sounds nice, but how? The violence is perpetrated by some of the parliamentary parties, the same parties that voted to oust the Americans from Iraq. They will not have had a change of heart.

I don’t think the PM-designate will have control over getting Iraq ready for early elections. Why would corrupt MPs vote to become jobless? Early elections are not going to happen. They will just delay by a year, and then say—-hey scheduled elections are a year away anyways.
