The thing I keep thinking about, and I wonder how many people even realize it, is how so much of what we now know about the UFC’s financials and what they actually pay fighters is due to Bloody Elbow’s reporting. No other outlet did as much to inform us on the topic. Not one.

Wait, THAT is the rant room? I don’t know what I was expecting but certainly something at least a little more than… that.
This pretty much sums up the problems with current New Japan. Huge field, but only one outsider to bring in fresh matchups. Completely random nonsense for who gets a bye (Gedo??). Maybe they’ll surprise me and elevate someone new but I’m not holding my breath. Bummer.

In 1989, Sting vs Great Muta at Bash 89 blew my mind. In 2021, Muta is main eventing in Japan and did a moonsault, and Sting is main eventing in the US doing dives to the floor. Wild.

I used to absolutely hate Ogawa, mainly because he’s not cut from the same cloth as the pillars. But I’ve really come around on him, in large part from this years Kiyomiya match. This sequence is nifty.
